Literature Text

The guards grip was a little too rough but she understood the reason before she asked him to look after Rose. Down corridors and turns to the final descent to the dungeons. Walking down the steps Kyra could smell rotting flesh and faeces of the dank and dark pit, that she wouldn’t call a dungeon rather than hell. Approaching an open door cell she was thrown to the sticky floor and chained to the wall, in an uncomfortable position. From what light that entered through centimetre wide windows, she could see the floor of her cell was covered in a mixture of faeces, blood, vomit and rotting flesh, that she noticed a few rats feeding upon, the smell that hung in the air made her heave. Quickly turning her face to the side of the wall, she throw up the breakfast she had that morning, turning away she tried to sleep but the stench denied her that escape. Night finally fell and so did she.

Another dream revealed itself to her, in this she wasn’t herself. She was a man who had gone to a secret meeting. Every one had different masks to cover their face, the mask were that a different animals, lions, bears, eagles and dragons. It seemed to her that everyone wore the mask of where the came from. Talk of trades and passage ways soon lead to that of war, specifically the war between the lions and dragons. A man in the background stirred and quickly unsheathed his sword, forcing his way forward and thrusting it into a dragon. Then the skirmish began, the lions, bears and eagles turned on the dragons and slaughtered them. These images scared her, she had never seen a man being killed, just animals and even that had disturbed her.

Kaleb was waken by the guards saying that she wouldn’t stop screaming and wouldn’t wake up, annoyed by the fact that he had been asleep but now was awake, he dressed quickly and stormed to the dungeon. As he walked down, he could hear her screams and it was to him a knife into his heart. He approached her and she woke, fevered just like the night before.

“Don’t go, don’t go, don’t go; it’s a trap they’ll kill you and your men.” Her eyes told him she did not lie but then again she could be acting. How could he trust the sister of his enemy?
